ATD-MODELS GmbH develops Motorcyclist ATD-M350 FE-Dummy Model in accordance with ISO13232-3:2005
ISO 13232-3:2005 specifies methods and procedures for the assessment of motorcycle protection devices. The norm recommends the use of the motorcyclist anthropometric test device (MATD), a modified version of a 50th percentile Hybrid III in frontal configuration for all impact scenarios. Based on the existing 50th percentile Hybrid III FE-Dummy model (ATD-H350), ATD-MODELS GmbH developed a Motorcyclist ATD-M350 FE-Dummy Modell that reflects now required modifications to meet the ISO13232-3:2005 standard. These modifications comprise a modified neck and head compatible with motorcycle helmets in motorcycle-specific head positions, a sit/stand pelvis and frangible components in the abdomen, upper and lower legs, and knees. Finally, in close cooperation with a leading motorcycle manufacturer, the ATD-M350 FE-dummy model was tested in Crash-simulations using ANSYS LS-DYNA®.
